The influence of land use on the spatial distribution and intensity of heat islands in Slovenia

Heat islands (HI) are a common anthropogenic phenomenon and defined as artificial surfaces (urban areas) that have higher average temperature than their surroundings (rural areas). The aim of this work was to determine the influence land use on spatial distribution intensity (HIi ) HI in Slovenia. MODIS Land Surface Temperature (LST) Corine Cover (CLC) databases were used perform analysis. Within identified HI, two levels determined based difference. results revealed statistically significant negative correlation between HIi both forest co%ver fragmentation (forest edge density ratio mean patch size size).
